India Strengthens Green Mobility with PM’s Inauguration of Landmark Initiatives at Hansalpur

Taking significant strides towards becoming Aatmanirbhar in green energy, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated two landmark initiatives at Suzuki Motor’s Hansalpur plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, marking a major step in India’s journey towards sustainable mobility.
In a strong example of the success of Make in India, the Prime Minister launched and flagged off the “e VITARA”, Suzuki’s first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). The Made-in-India BEVs will be exported to over 100 countries, including advanced markets such as Europe and Japan, positioning India as Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Plant, a joint venture between Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki. With more than 80% of battery value now being manufactured domestically, this milestone strengthens India’s battery ecosystem and boosts clean energy innovation, further advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
