FMG Strengthens Technical Leadership; Joins IIT Madras' Centre of Excellence

To further strengthen its technical capabilities, FMG has onboarded Dr. Sunitha K. Nayar as Head – Technical. A nationally recognized specialist in fibre-reinforced concrete, floor design, and advanced construction systems, her specializations include sustainable construction materials, mechanical characterization of construction materials, and high-performance concrete systems.

Dr. Nayar holds a B. Tech in Civil Engineering from Calicut University (1997), an M. Tech in Structural Engineering from NIT Calicut (2004), and a Ph.D. in Building Materials and Construction Technology from IIT Madras (2016).

Her two decades of work experience includes roles such as COO of the Global Sanitation Centre of Excellence (GSCOE) at IIT Palakkad, Visiting Faculty at IIT Palakkad since 2017 during which she also served as Joint Project Director of the GSCOE for the last one year, Scientist at IIT Madras under the DST WOS-A scheme, and Assistant Professor at Amrita University, Coimbatore. She holds a software on flooring design jointly copyrighted with FMG and IIT Madras. She has also applied for a patent on low carbon binder for Glass Textile Reinforced Concrete which also has been taken up for technology translation for commercial application. She has led several industrial consultancy projects as Principal Investigator, with a focus on flooring design, FRC testing, and design. Her expertise is expected to further strengthen FMG’s technical capabilities and contribute to the development of sustainable and resilient built environments.

On 23rd April 2025, FMG marked yet another milestone by being inducted as a TEAK Member of the Centre of Excellence for Technologies for Low-Carbon and Lean Construction (TLC) at IIT Madras. The induction was commemorated at a special event hosted at TLC2. FMG extends its sincere appreciation to Prof. Ravindra Gettu and Dr. Tamali Bhowmick of IIT Madras for their support.
