Building a Greener, More Resilient Infrastructure
A Unified Push by Stakeholders Across the Construction Ecosystem
India’s infrastructure boom, projected to reach US $1.4 trillion by 2035, now carries a non-negotiable mandate: cut carbon, conserve resources, and build climate-resilient assets. Every arm of the construction industry—builders, contractors, consultants, manufacturers, policymakers, and research institutions—is aligning with this urgent goal. Whether it’s highways, bridges, metros, tunnels, or housing, the focus is on lowering emissions, accelerating circularity, and delivering infrastructure built to last.

The National Council for Cement & Building Materials (NCCBM), the apex body for technical guidance in the cement industry, is leading efforts to green one of the most carbon-intensive sectors. Blended cements now make up over 68% of national production, aided by the increased use of fly ash, GGBS, and calcined clays, with a projected 37% cut in specific CO2 emissions by 2050.
