Kolkata Port Launches Cleanliness Drive in Hooghly River

Kolkata-Port
Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK) has launched a special cleanliness drive to clear debris from the Hooghly River following idol immersions.

The drive began on Bijaya Dashami and will continue till Sunday, with a second phase scheduled from October 21 to 24 during Kali Puja immersions. The initiative is being carried out at Baje Kadomtala Ghat, St. Judges Ghat, and Nimtala Ghat.

To curb river pollution, immersion points have been barricaded, and idols and structures are being retrieved using barge-mounted cranes, mechanised boats, and wooden launches.
