India, Japan Strengthen Clean Energy Partnership for Sustainable Future

India and Japan have further strengthened their energy cooperation under the Japan–India Clean Energy Partnership, focusing on energy security, clean transition, and climate action. The partnership is driven through the India–Japan Energy Dialogue and sectoral Joint Working Groups (JWGs).
On 25th August 2025, a Ministerial-level Energy Dialogue was held virtually, co-chaired by Shri Manohar Lal, Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, and Mr. Muto Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan.
Key Indian ministries, including Power, Renewable Energy, Petroleum & Natural Gas, and Coal, presented progress under their respective JWGs and outlined future cooperation plans.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to energy security and inclusive growth, while welcoming progress in energy efficiency, clean hydrogen, ammonia, and renewable energy. They also agreed to expand collaboration in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), green chemicals, biofuels, and advanced energy technologies.
The ministers emphasized that the India–Japan energy partnership will play a crucial role in building secure, resilient, and sustainable energy systems across the Indo-Pacific region.
