Plans for Elevated Road Along Yamuna Pushta Gain Momentum

A month after Union minister Nitin Gadkari suggested that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) would consider the project, plans for an elevated road along the Yamuna Pushta stretch have gathered pace. The Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) has sought detailed inputs from the Noida Authority regarding the corridor’s location, design, connectivity, and necessity.
The proposed 30 km bypass will run along the Yamuna embankment from Okhla Barrage near Kalindi Kunj to the Yamuna Expressway, providing a direct link between Delhi and the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. It is also expected to ease congestion on the heavily burdened Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
PWD will submit its report to the irrigation department, which will forward recommendations to the state government. The state will then approach the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to seek national highway status for the stretch.
