PM Modi Launches ₹40,000 Cr Development Projects in Purnea, Bihar

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth around ₹40,000 crore in Purnea, Bihar, spanning railways, airports, electricity, and water.
He inaugurated the Interim Terminal Building of Purnea Airport, placing the city on India’s aviation map, and launched Bihar’s largest private investment project—the 3x800 MW thermal power plant at Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, worth ₹25,000 crore. It is designed on ultra-super critical, low-emission technology. The project will provide dedicated power and strengthen Bihar’s energy security. He also laid the foundation of the ₹2,680 crore Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project to enhance irrigation, flood control, and agricultural resilience.
Strengthening connectivity, he inaugurated the Araria–Galgalia rail line, flagged off new Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express trains, and laid the foundation of the Bikramshila–Katareah rail line worth ₹2,170 crore, providing direct rail link across the river Ganga.
Additionally, PM Modi participated in Griha Pravesh ceremonies for over 40,000 PMAY beneficiaries and distributed ₹500 crore Community Investment Funds under DAY-NRLM.
He also launched the National Makhana Board, which will boost production, processing, exports, and branding of makhana, directly benefiting farmers in Bihar, which contributes nearly 90% of India’s total output. Reaffirming his commitment to Bihar, the Prime Minister said the establishment of the Makhana Board will put the state on the global map while major projects will accelerate its growth, connectivity, and economic opportunities.
