Stronger the Logistics, Stronger the Borders: Shri Rajnath Singh

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), India’s first university dedicated to transport and logistics education, held its third convocation in Vadodara, Gujarat. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh addressed the ceremony virtually as the chief guest and emphasized the pivotal role of infrastructure and logistics in driving India’s economic development.

He described the logistics sector as a game changer for 21st-century India and called upon the youth to contribute towards building a developed nation. "Stronger logistics services directly strengthen our borders and enhance the morale of our soldiers," he noted, citing the importance of timely delivery of defence and essential supplies.

Highlighting government initiatives, Shri Rajnath Singh mentioned the creation of multimodal transport hubs and mission-mode schemes that have reduced logistics costs and enabled data-driven decision-making.

Union Minister for Railways and Chancellor of GSV, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, lauded the Indian Railways' transformation over the past 11 years. He revealed that the rail network expanded by 5,300 km in the last year alone, with 368 km of tunnels constructed. Stressing the importance of skilled human resources, he urged students to support India’s journey towards becoming a top global economy. He also encouraged GSV to focus on marine engineering research and industry collaborations.

In total, 194 students received degrees, with awards presented for academic excellence, outstanding projects, and best student achievements. GSV Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Choudhary shared the university's progress over the last three years.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya was established under the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and aligns with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, which promotes integrated, multimodal infrastructure development through coordinated efforts across 16 Ministries.
