1223 Precast Segments Installed on Pune-Bengaluru NH-48 Flyover on Karad Stretch

Flyover Project

In the six-laning project of Pune–Bengaluru National Highway 48, 1,223 precast concrete segments have been installed for the under-construction flyover on the Satara–Kagal stretch. The ₹500 crore flyover spans 3.5 km across Karad city and is supported by 93 single pillars.

Each segment, weighing between 125 and 135 tonnes, has been cast at a nearby factory, transported to the construction site, and lifted onto the pillars. The segments are secured with heavy-duty nuts, iron bars, and cement, ensuring long-term durability of the structure.

The foundation stone of the six-laning project was laid by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, in September 2021.
