FASTag Annual Pass Introduced for Cars, Jeeps & Vans at ₹3,000 from August 15, 2025

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has amended the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, through Gazette Notification No. G.S.R. 388(E) dated June 17, 2025. Under the amendment, a FASTag Annual Pass has been introduced for non-commercial cars, jeeps, and vans, effective from August 15, 2025.

The Annual Pass will be activated on payment of ₹3,000 and will allow travel across all National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas for one year or up to 200 crossings, whichever comes first. In a closed user fee system, a vehicle’s entry and exit through a fee plaza will be counted as a single crossing. The scheme is aimed at reducing frequent FASTag recharges and easing the user fee burden for private vehicle owners.

Currently, the pass applies only to NH and NE fee plazas. However, if state governments choose to implement a similar system for State Highways and Expressways, the Ministry has assured full technical support.

The Ministry, through Gazette Notification No. G.S.R. 437(E) dated July 1, 2025, has rationalized fee calculations for highway sections with structures such as bridges or tunnels. The fee will now be determined by either adding ten times the structure length to the highway section length (excluding the structure) or five times the total length of the section, whichever is lesser.
