At the recent 'Customer Day' held at Liugong India’s manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Indore, the company displayed its new products alongside exhibits from its existing portfolio. The range included BS-V wheel loaders, road solution equipment, new electric construction equipment range consisting of motor graders, excavators, dump truck and skid steer loader. The display was also a precursor to the company’s intended exhibition of its eco-friendly products at the Excon 2025 exhibition slated to be held in December this year.

Informed Nischal Mehrotra, Sr. Vice President – Sales & Marketing at Liugong India, “We are developing products that enable higher productivity, incur lesser operating costs, and, most significantly, follow the new emission norms of the Indian Government. Our exhibit of motor graders with AI features raised awareness among road contractors about the future readiness of such products, in line with the new NHAI norms for road construction under the directives of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.”

“At this event, our customers, end-users, financiers, and dealers got acquainted with the new design, value engineering, and customization in our products, with enhanced features that include advanced electronic engines and telematics, designed to enhance their application across various sectors and industries.”

Showcasing Liugong’s strong positioning in the wheel loader segment, were the new BS V electronic engine-based (Total) T-Series models 838 T, 3.8-ton class, 842T Max, 4.2-ton class, 856 T Max of 5.6-ton payload, and the 856 T hydrostatic wheel loader. For the ready-mix concrete plants, Liugong has launched the 818 H, 1.8-ton wheel loader (an upgrade from the previous 'N' series of loaders). It comes with a choice of engine brands like Weichai, Kirloskar, Ashok Leyland and Cummins.

Said Mehrotra, "The new T series of wheel loaders are designed to deliver 'totality' in performance, reliability, safety, and fuel efficiency through electronic engines, along with enhanced operator comfort, and, ultimately, give an appreciable total cost of ownership. The loaders now come with higher capacity transmission and axles to better withstand overloading, especially when working in quarries. We have made modifications and advancements like FOPS and ROPS in the cabins as stipulated by the government, and the cabins also have better ergonomics and controls.”

He informed that Liugong will be targeting both the hiring and end-user segments involved in quarrying, crushing and screening, road construction, cement and steel plants, etc. "Loaders are indispensable in these segments, especially in quarries. No doubt, with their new emission norms, their cost will be somewhat higher (like all other brands), but, given our advanced design, engineering and service, our loaders will be delivering faster cycle time for higher productivity to meet the rising demand of aggregates, especially from the bigger projects. In fact, crushing plants are being upgraded from 250 tph to 300 tph to deliver higher throughput. A typical crushing plant runs for 14-15 hours at a stretch. The processed materials produced are stacked, heaped, and loaded onto dump trucks with the help of the wheel loaders."

Liugong is also offering its bigger 856 HE E-MAX wheel loader of 5.8 tons payload capacity. Powered by lithium iron phosphate battery, it has a rated storage capacity of 350 kWh and comes with a 3.5 cum standard bucket. It is best suited for bigger quarries that run on plants with 250+tph configurations and which operate for longer hours. It is also designed for use in steel, power and cement plants that have a stable grid power.

Liugong’s 820 TE, 2-ton, LFP, battery-operated wheel loader is recommended for ready-mix concrete (RMC) industries where it can undertake both loading and heaping jobs, plus, where there is ready availability of grid power to run the RMC plants. According to Mehrotra, this wheel loader can work uninterrupted with faster cycle times, leading to higher loading volumes, and there is no diesel consumption or maintenance requirements. It has a storage capacity of 70.5 kWh, and can work for 5-7 hours at a stretch to operate in a 60 cum/hr plant with a single charge of the battery, even when the plant is working in full capacity. For a 90 cum/hr plant, the loader batteries will need an extra charge of one hour.

Features include a 1.2 cum bucket, an AC cabin, and Liugong’s I-Link telematics, and a quick release coupler, gripper, and forks as optional, and other attachments. It has a peak power of 50 kw drive motor and can work at ambient temperatures of -35 to 85 degrees centigrade. This makes the machine suitable in tunnel constructions. It features a transmission of Liugong with a countershaft power shift and a maximum travel speed of 19km/hr.

In the excavator segment, on display was the new 914E, 14-ton excavator designed to work in hilly terrains and in smaller crushing plants, and the new 922 FE, 22-ton electric excavator, which comes with a 1.0 cum HD/1.25 cum general purpose bucket for use in the infrastructure and quarry sectors. The 922 FE is designed for continuous hopper loading in crushing and screening plants, for arranging processed aggregates stocks, and for heaping not only the finished aggregates but also materials like manufactured sand. The electric system of the 922FE features an IPMSM motor with a rated power of 140 kw, and is powered by AC 380V working input voltage. Power is supplied to the excavator through a cable attached to a rotating pulley mounted on a temporary lattice tower. The cable draws power from a local grid.

Other exhibits during the event included the DW 105 AE, 111-ton electric dump truck for mining applications with a payload of 70,000 tons, and a new 385 BE electric skid steer loader. A range of road equipment with BS V engines included the (Excellence) 'E-Series' of road surface preparation equipment like the 6611 E soil compactor with a new drum design and a bigger capacity tank; the 6029E mini asphalt soil compactor for use in construction of city roads and footpaths; the 4100 D mini motor grader for rural road construction jobs, and for PMGSY projects; the 4180 D bigger capacity motor grader with BSV engine for use in mining and national highway/ road construction; and the 428OD 25-ton electric motor grader for use in mining. It is powered by LFP battery and has a ROPS and FOPS cabin.

Liugong is setting up a new unit for assembly of dump trucks, loaders, and electric machines at its Pithampur facility. Also on the anvil are plans for increasing its dealer network to enable faster parts supply and services, ensuring higher uptime of Liugong machines.
