Railway Board Orders Careful Assessment of Projects After CAG Flags ₹10.72 Cr Loss

Indian Railway

The Railway Board has directed all zones to conduct thorough assessments before starting any infrastructure project, following a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that flagged a loss of ₹10.72 crore due to poor planning.

The case relates to a railway yard where pit lines were built but remained unused as they posed potential operational problems. Pit lines are washing facilities located below tracks, used for cleaning and maintaining coaches.
