Centre Sanctions ₹1,200 Cr for Phulbari–Tura Road Development

The Centre has sanctioned over ₹1,200 crore for the development of a 63 km stretch from Phulbari (Chibinang) to Tura in West Garo Hills district, notified as NH-127B. The project, to be developed into a two-lane road with paved shoulders under JICA funding, has been divided into two packages.

Package I (31.50 km), with an estimated cost of ₹737 crore, is currently under bidding. Package II (31.72 km), costing ₹504 crore, commenced on May 16, 2025. Both packages are targeted for completion by 2027.
