Railways to Launch Amrit Bharat 3.0 Trains with AC–Non-AC Mix

The Ministry of Railways

The Ministry of Railways is gearing up to introduce Amrit Bharat 3.0 trainsets, building on insights from the first two versions of the affordable express service. For the first time, these upgraded trains will feature a mix of Air-Conditioned (AC) and Non-Air-Conditioned (Non-AC) coaches, offering a balance between comfort and affordability.

Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF) has been entrusted with the design and development of the new trainsets. The non-AC configuration includes 11 General Class coaches, 8 Sleeper Class coaches, 1 Pantry Car, 2 Second Class-cum-Luggage-cum-Guard Vans, and a specially designed compartment for persons with disabilities.

U Subba Rao, General Manager of ICF, said the mixed configuration of Amrit Bharat 3.0 aims to broaden accessibility while maintaining affordability.

Launched in 2023, Amrit Bharat Trains were envisioned to provide an enhanced travel experience for economically weaker sections. With 3.0, the Railways seeks to expand this mission by blending affordability with improved passenger comfort.
