Shell Energy India to Expand Hazira LNG Terminal Capacity to 26.2 MMTPA with ₹21,600 Cr Investment

Shell Energy India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Shell Gas B.V. owned by Royal Dutch Shell plc, has received environmental clearance to expand its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal at Hazira Port in Gujarat. The project will increase the terminal’s capacity from 6.28 MMTPA to 26.2 MMTPA with a planned investment of ₹21,600 crore.
The expansion includes 25 MMTPA regasification capacity and a 1.2 MMTPA truck loading terminal. Key developments will involve constructing LNG storage tanks, enhancing regasification facilities, building new truck loading infrastructure, and augmenting LNG receiving capacity through a new jetty and breakwater.
The proposed jetty will handle conventional LNG carriers, while the project also entails capital dredging of 2.8 million cubic meters to deepen the channel, ensuring smooth operations for larger vessels.
