Shri Harsh Malhotra Lays Foundation Stone for 4 Flyovers & 9 Fob’s on NH-48 in Gurugram

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways & Corporate Affairs, Shri Harsh Malhotra, laid the foundation stone for four new flyovers at Panchgaon Chowk, Rathiwas, near Hero Company, and Sahlawas, along with nine Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at key locations on the Gurgaon–Kotputli–Jaipur section of NH-48. The projects, valued at ₹282 crore, also include several allied engineering works aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing road safety.
Highlighting India’s rapid progress in road infrastructure, the Minister said the national highway network has expanded from 91,000 km in 2014 to over 1.46 lakh km, making it the second-largest road network in the world. High-speed corridors have grown from 93 km to 2,474 km, while highways with four lanes and above have increased 2.5 times in the past decade.
India now builds roads at a record pace of 34 km per day, backed by a 6.4x rise in ministry spending and a 570% jump in budget allocation since 2014. Four-lane and above NH stretches grew 2.6 times from 18,371 km in 2014 to 48,422 km in 2024
The new flyovers will eliminate accident-prone blackspots and reduce at-grade conflicts, ensuring smoother travel for commuters in Gurugram, Rewari, and adjoining regions. The nine FOBs, at Shikhopur, Manesar, Binola, Rathiwas, Malpura, Jaisinghpurkhera, Sidhrawali, Kharkhara, and Khijuri, will feature ramps, stairways, and dedicated lighting systems to ensure accessibility and improve pedestrian safety, especially during night hours.
Shri Malhotra emphasized that these projects will not only enhance safety and connectivity but also serve as a catalyst for regional growth and prosperity, boosting economic and social well-being in Haryana and beyond.
