The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, hosted the "IT Conclave 2025 – Leveraging Technology in Maritime," marking a significant step in modernising India’s maritime governance. Inaugurated by Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Shantanu Thakur, the event saw the launch of key digital initiatives, including a revamped DG Shipping website and Phase-1 of the cloud-based e-Samudra platform, aimed at integrating over 60 maritime services.

Other highlights included the rollout of AI-based exams, digital licensing modules, and a roadmap for adopting emerging tech like AI, blockchain, and geospatial tools. The conclave aligns with the government’s Maritime India Vision 2030 and Digital India goals, steering the maritime sector toward transparency, efficiency, and a future-ready blue economy.
