Kochi Metro Begins DPR Preparation for Third Line to Angamaly via Airport

Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has initiated the process of preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for its third metro line, extending from Aluva to Angamaly via Kochi airport.
The DPR work has been awarded to Haryana-based Systra MVA Consulting India Pvt. Ltd. Earlier, KMRL had floated a tender in which RITES was the sole bidder but quoted over twice the estimated cost, prompting a re-tender. In the revised tender, KMRL excluded the feasibility study for a future extension to the proposed GIFT City in Ayyampuzha and the rolling stock study for Phase III.
The Union government has now approved the DPR preparation at a cost of ₹1.3 crore. According to KMRL, the report is expected to be completed within six months.
