PM Launches & Lays Foundation for Development Projects Worth Over ₹8,500 Cr in Manipur

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than ₹8,500 crore in Manipur, underscoring the government’s focus on peace, progress, and inclusive growth in the state.
In Imphal, the Prime Minister inaugurated projects worth over ₹1,200 crore, including the Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, the IT SEZ Building, the New Police Headquarters, Manipur Bhawans in Delhi and Kolkata, and Ima Markets — the unique all-women’s markets — in four districts. Describing Manipur as the “crown jewel adorning the crest of Mother India,” he recalled Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s reference to the state as the “gateway to India’s independence,” and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to peace and harmony between the hills and the valley.
In Churachandpur, Shri Modi laid the foundation stone of projects worth over ₹7,300 crore, including Manipur Urban Roads, drainage and asset management improvement works worth more than ₹3,600 crore; five National Highway projects worth over ₹2,500 crore; the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project; and Working Women Hostels at nine locations. He highlighted the ongoing expansion of rail connectivity in Manipur and said, “A new dawn of hope and trust is rising in Manipur. We are working with the goal of making Manipur a symbol of peace, prosperity, and progress.”
Extending greetings to Nepal, the Prime Minister also congratulated Smt. Sushila Ji on assuming office as Prime Minister of the interim government, expressing confidence in her leadership for ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the neighboring country.
